Lucius Pond Rimfire Revolver - Inventory Number: HAN 351

.32cal Rimfire "Pocket" Revolver made by Lucius W. Pond in Worcester, Mass. He was one of many small producers located in the City, which was a hotbed of firearms development and production. The top and side of the octagonal barrel on this example is marked:

    L.W. POND WORCESTER, MASS.

    PAT'D JULY 10.1860

Pond started production in 1861 with his .32 Caliber breech loading Six Shot Revolver. This features a barrel tip up system allowing access to the cylinder which had to be exposed to be loaded and re-loaded. It has walnut flat bottom grips, no trigger guard but a protected "spur" trigger being encased in a steel slot. The barrel is octagonal and measures 4 1/2" in length. The Grips are quite nice, and look like they are made of burl walnut, with a series of twenty-four hash marks on the left grip.  Serial number matching 368 throughout.  Mainspring appears to be lacking as there is no pressure on the hammer when pulled.  Otherwise, a great display pistol with a great look.
