Maine State Seal Cuff or Hat Button - Inventory Number: BUT 194 / Sold

Depicts state seal of Maine, intended for officers of Maine militia units. Backmark: "SCOVILLS & Co.  / WATERBURY" dm.   small letters between rings of dots, no well for shank, Scovill produced ca 1860.
Stand up shank intact, attractive gilded nondug button.
