Alberts MD11A. Button depicts state seal of Maryland - a shield with a fisherman, farmer, and eagle. Manufactured before the war, intended for officers of Maryland militia units, who generally sided with the South but served both sides. Backmark: "SCOVILL MF'G CO, / WATERBURY." dm between two rings of dots, ca 1860's). Three-part officer staff button, coat size. Non excavated button, gilded, stand up shank intact.
Button card was de-accessed from the “The National Civil War Life Museum” of Fredericksburg, VA which featured thousands of items pertaining to the daily life of the Civil War Soldier and the era.
