Maynard- Near Mint Example - Inventory Number: RIF 098 / Sold
This is a near Mint example of the 1863 Model Maynard Carbine manufactured by the Massachusetts Arms Company of Chicopee Falls. Caliber .50 rimfire. The stock has two nice Union inspector cartouches: “JM” & “GWP”. Overall, the frame retains 90%+ strong case colors with Mass. Arms Co. markings on the right side and the Maynard Patent dates on the left side. Even the screws on the frame retain 95% of their original and fragile fire blue. The barrel has nearly all of its original blue. Bore is mint...action is still just like new. Stock is nearly perfect...with just a few tiny nicks....as nice as you will see for 140 year old gun. Buttplate has 60% bright blue remaining with the balance simply flaked. An extraordinary example of Civil War Era Maynard Carbine in almost issued condition.
