Militia Cartridge Box - Inventory Number: LEA 227 / SOLD
This leather cartridge box was constructed around the time of the War of 1812. Constructed of leather with tooled perimeter o flap. This box contains its original drilled wooden block inset with 24 holes of .74" indicating it likely carried .69 or .72 caliber rounds. On the bottom of the box the original brass carriage finial is present, lacking leather, closure tab, and cotton shoulder strap. The leather remains in outstanding condition for its age and stitching is sound.
