Model 1855 Bayonet and Scabbard / SOLD

U.S. Model 1855 socket bayonet for the 1855-1863 pattern rifle-muskets. It measures 21” and is marked “US” on the blade. The bayonet is complete with locking ring and has a gray finish with scattered areas of light pitting. The scabbard is the early-war pattern with two-rivet frog and the maker mark of Smith, Bourne & Co. of Hartford, Connecticut, and remains in solid condition with some crazing to the bridle leather finish. A nice pairing in overall good condition.
