"New Jersey" Marked Bullseye Canteen - Inventory Number: CAN 069 / SOLD
A very nice Civil War concentric ring "bullseye" canteen with its' full complement of cover, strap, stopper, and chain. Condition is excellent. In addition, it has been stenciled “New Jersey” on the sling indicating ownership and issuance to the state of New Jersey. Original owner’s name is in ink on the sling as well as initials carved on spout with a pinhole drilled in the spout to increase the flow of the water. One of the nicest issued examples of a Civil War canteen I have seen in some time.
