Original Lathe and Nail Dr. Samuel A. Mudd Home - Inventory Number: IDE 261 / SOLD

A hand-cut iron nail and section of lathe wood panel from St. Catherine, the home and plantation in Charles County Maryland given to Dr. Samuel Mudd by his father, Thomas Mudd, as a wedding gift Baltimore Medical from College in 1857. The home is listed as a National Register of Historic Places and remains in the Mudd Family. Dr. Mudd’s granddaughter did a private renovation prior to the home opening as a museum in 1983 and sold pieces of the removed paneling, wood and nails as souvenirs privately as well as in the house/museum in 1983.
Comes housed in a 6 X 8 riker display case with red velvet and descriptive card.
