New Testament carried by James B. Bowen and identified by multiple inscriptions. The front cover is inscribed in period ink “James B. Bowen Co.B. 26th Ind.” The following page is again inscribed with his name and unit, as well as a personal note. The next page contains the following inscription, “J.B.B. Killed in battle, Benjamin Hargis Capt. Co.B, disabled and discharged, brought this book home with him. No Bowens to be found, gave it to his nephew W.S.
