U.S. bayonet scabbard made of entirely hand sewn bridle leather, lacking the reenforcing rivets seen on Civil War models. This style of scabbard appeared in the mid-1840s and was manufactured until the late 1850s. The body of the scabbard measures 19 ½” and is in good condition, complete with brass finial. A scarce early specimen.
