    William R. Ward - ResidenceDeWitt, IA;35 years old. Enlistedon 8/14/1862as a 1st Lieut. On 10/1/1862, hewas commissioned into"F" Co.Iowa26th Infantry. He was discharged disabilityon 6/21/1864. He was listed as: Wounded1/11/1863 Arkansas Post, AR(Wounded severely). Promotions: Capt.2/27/1863.

    The 26th Iowa Infantry was organized at Clinton, Iowa and mustered in for three years of Federal service on September 30, 1862. The regiment was a part of the 3rd brigade, 1st division, XV Corps. The regiment was mustered out on June 6, 1865.
