Rare Extra Engraved Tomes, Son & Melvain Pocket Revolver - Inventory Number: HAN 340

Cal 31. SN 543. 4″ round barrel marked “TOMES, SON & MELVAIN N.Y.” on top of the bbl. The five-shot cylinder is fluted on the front half. These revolvers were made for the New York dealers by Bacon. The deeply etched vine and leaf scroll engraving extend further forward on the sides of the frame and has a intricately punched background. This engraving also extends to the backstrap. Bright grey/silver finish. Grips retain nearly all of their varnish. Mechanically excellent.

Overall, this is an attractive and all matching example of one of the less common pocket revolvers to complete with the Colt Pocket Revolver during the mid-1860s. This would be a nice addition to any collection of Civil War era pocket revolvers and since no more than about 3,000 of these guns were produced, and much fewer with the Tomes Melvain marking! It would be hard to find an example with this much appeal.
