    Rare Confederate North Carolina Bon, Zeb Vance, 26th North Carolina - Inventory Number: CON 121 / SOLD

    Original Civil War Confederate North Carolina bond, signed by the famous wartime Governor, Zeb Vance (formerly 26th NC State Troops).

    Confederate bond issue by the State of North Carolina, signed by ZEBULON VANCE and JONATHAN WORTH, January 1, 1863, with several attached coupons signed by WH Dodd. Fine condition.  The document illustrated with vignettes of the State Seal, capitol building, a portrait of Worth, a portrait of Vance.   Professionally framed in archival materials.

    Zebulon Baird Vance (1830-1894) was a Confederate military officer in the 26th North Carolina Infantry during the American Civil War, the 37th and 43rd Governor of North Carolina, and U.S. Senator. Referred to as the "War Governor of the South”.  A prodigious writer, Vance became one of the most influential Southern leaders of the Civil War and postbellum periods.

     Jonathan Worth (1802-1869) was the 39th Governor of the U.S. state of North Carolina from 1865 to 1868, during the early years of Reconstruction.
