Exquisite Robert E. Lee mourning or funeral cockade constructed of black silk with a disk of red silk in the center. Pinned to the center is a decorative brass framed albumen portrait of Lee in Confederate uniform, protected by a thick layer of glass. It would have been made shortly after Lee’s death on October 12, 1870 from the effects of a stroke. The cockade is 3” wide and comes with its original cylindrical cardboard box. A very scarce piece of Robert E. Lee memorabilia.
Comes housed in a display case with grey velvet backing and descriptive card.
