Sheble & Fisher Model 1840 Cavalry Saber - Inventory Number: SWO 234 / SOLD
Model 1840 “wristbreaker” cavalry saber made by Sheble & Fisher of Philadelphia. One side of the ricasso has the arched maker’s mark “SHEBLE & FISHER / PHILADa.” The blade has an even, light gray patina with a clean, nick-free edge. The brass guard has a layer of gold paint covered with lacquer. The leather grip is in solid condition with a few spots of wear down to the wood and is complete with twisted brass wire wrap. The original leather washer is intact around the ricasso. The scabbard has a smooth, even, plum brown patina. Overall, a fine example of a desirable maker.
