Silver Pocket Watch with Civil War Engraving / SOLD
Silver key-wind pocket watch manufactured by M.J. Tobias of Liverpool. The front cover of the watch features a stunning engraving of a mounted officer brandishing a sword and dressed in a frock coat, epaulettes, and kepi. A cannon tube and battle smoke in the background paint a dramatic scene. The back cover depicts a nautical scene with a steam frigate cruising offshore from a castle. The front case opens to reveal the porcelain dial which retains the hour hand. The minute hand, second hand, and glass are missing. The movement is no longer functional. This is a beautiful soldier’s watch that may be worthy or restoration.
Comes housed in display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
