Battle of Gettysburg
Excavated South Carolina coat button. Two-piece construction depicting the South Carolina coat of arms against a lined background. The face has a fair amount of gilt remaining and good detail with a slight push to the right of the palmetto. The back retains the shank and the backmark “IVES SCOTT & CO/WATERBURY.” A very nice prewar example that was lost during the Battle. From a collection of local Gettysburg Relics recovered in the 1950’s. Accompanied by certificate of authenticity.
Comes housed in a display case with red velvet backing and descriptive card.
