Stunning Confederate Bowie Knife - Inventory Number: CON 567

A superb example of a large "D' Guard Bowie knife.  Measuring approximately 17 1/4" overall.  This example exhibits a solid lathe turned wood grip. The iron band and cross-guard are undisturbed. Blade measures 12 1/2" with a clipped point and exhibits all the classic finishing expected of a true Southern knife. This example was formed from a filer, known for being of quality steel. Some of the cross-hatching from the file are visible.  Both blade and original pigskin sheath contain matching old inventory number.
