"Truncheon" - Inventory Number: MIS 084 / Sold

A wooden baton used to break up fights and as a form of punishment and order aboard naval vessels.  This fine example has a leather lanyard which the officer wound around the handle and affixed to his wrist to ensure the weapon could not be snatched from his grasp.  The overall form much resembles the "Billy Club" used by the police at the time.
