Three-quarter standing view of Grant as a Lieutenant General. He is posed with his left hand holding his coat while his right hand is thrust in his pocket. Visible on his upper left arm is a black mourning ribbon he is wearing to mark the death of President Lincoln. The image is clear with great contrast and is clean. Bottom of the mount has printed caption of “LT. GEN. U. S. GRANT”. The reverse is blank.
