Union Arms Company Pocket Model Revolver, 5th Pattern - Inventory Number: HAN 176 / SOLD

Five-shot Union Arms Co. .31 caliber revolver. One of approximately 13,000 produced from 1858 through the early 1860s. This revolver is serial numbered 7233. This style is known as the 5th pattern.  It has a 5-shot, fluted cylinder. A 4 ¼” octagonal barrel has “THE UNION / ARMS CO” stamp on the top flat. This is the first pattern to feature a groove along the top of the frame. The trigger guard is brass. The serial number is found on the bottom of the frame to the front of the brass trigger guard. The hammer holds in both positions but does not consistently turn the cylinder, which rotates freely on full cock. The loading lever retaining screw is missing. Walnut grip is in nice condition. A nice example of an early Civil War-era pocket revolver that could be made functional with a little work.
