United Confederate Veterans Badge - Inventory Number: VET 215 / SOLD

Birmingham Alabama 36th Reunion.  The badge consists of a bronze bar pin and pendant. The bar pin is a simple rectangle with "U * C * V *" in raised letters. A clasp pin is soldered on the back. A small metal ring links the bottom of the bar pin to the top of the pendant. The pendant is shaped like a lozenge with cut-off corners. The top corner has a tab extension with a small hole and a small banner under the hole with "1926" in raised digits. The bottom portion of the pendant has ornate decoration with an Army of Northern Virginia pattern flag enameled in red and blue in the middle. "ALA." is in raised letters below the flag. The upper portion of the pendant has a relief image of a cavalry soldier in the center. A narrow exterior band follows the shape of the pendant to form an "arch" over the cavalry image. Raised lettering in the band reads, "U / 36TH REUNION / C / BIRMINGHAM / V." The manufacturer's name and address, "WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO., / NEWARK, N. J.," is stamped in the back of both the bar pin and pendant.
