Spanish National Colors Issued to Union Naval Vessels

This flag was part of a repertoire of foreign national flags issued to all U.S. Navy vessels for rendering honors, both at sea and in foreign ports.  Highly unique.  Such flags are extremely scarce.

Issue and inspector stamping are present “U.S. INSR / CIN’TI. (Cincinnati Depot) O. (Ohio).  Constructed of cotton, featuring five gold and scarlet-colored vertical stripes – three gold, two scarlet.  Measures 6’ on the fly and 4’ on the hoist.
