US Rifleman Button, eagle with script "R" (19.65mm). Button depicts a spread eagle facing right in it's left claw there is a small bundle of three arrows facing upward, in the eagle's right talon there is a six pedaled laurel stem. Upon the eagle's chest is a double lined recessed shield, with a single script foliated letter, "R". This style is reminiscent of President Washington's federal style spread-eagle buttons. Most likely used during the war of 1812. Backmark: Ring of stars. One piece flat button, coat size. The shank is original.
