Vermont State Button - Inventory Number: BUT 168 / Sold

Vermont button, state seal stag head over a shield, Scovill Mfg Waterbury rmdc  divided by dots, (23.2mm).  Button depicts Vermont seal, having wooded hills in the background representing the state's Green mountains, sheaves and a cow to represent the state's agriculture.  Above the seal is a stag's head with "VERMONT".  The ribbon below the coat of arms has the state motto of "FREEDON & UNITY” with 13 stars below that.  The sky of shield is lined and there are six tiers of branches perpendicular to the pine at the device center.  Backmark:  "SCOVILL MF'G. CO. / (dot) WATERBURY. (dot)" rmdc on a plain field.  Two part convex button, coat size.
