Vicksburg Mississippi Holster - Inventory Number: LEA 165 / Sold
9 ½ in. long with metal clip stamped LOUIS HOFFMAN/ VICKSBURG. Louis Hoffman was a Prussian-born gunsmith who opened his own shop in Vicksburg in 1857 and was supplier of rifles, pistols, and accoutrements to the Confederate Army. He was put on trial for arming insurgents when Vicksburg fell, but his business survived into the 1890s until it was absorbed by a hardware company.
