Circa 1910 photographic print by William H. Tipton of several men seated on a boulder on Little Round Top near a series of stone breastworks. The image is mounted on a 12” by 10” mat with Tipton’s stamped mark on the upper left corner of the reverse.
William H. Tipton (1850-1929) was a Gettysburg native and apprentice of the Tyson Brothers photographers as early as 1862. After the war he opened his own studio in Gettysburg and became one of the most well-known photographers in the nation for his battlefield views.
