Civil War Confederate General Officer’s Sash – Identified to General Joseph A. Reeves - Inventory Number: CON 603

This rare and historically significant Confederate general officer’s sash is in excellent condition, showing only minor wear and light staining with no moth damage. Made of tightly woven silk. The original woven gold bullion tassels still intact.

The sash is identified to Confederate General Joseph A. Reeves of Camden, Arkansas. Reeves first enlisted in the City Guards of Camden and became a 1st Lieutenant on May 15, 1861 in Company H of the 6th Arkansas Regiment. He later rose to Captain, commanding the company for two years, and took part in numerous engagements west of the Mississippi River. Near the close of the war, he was promoted to General Officer

A period photograph of a Confederate officer, along with a typed provenance note, accompanies the sash. According to the note, the sash was purchased by Doris Mackenzie from the family of Frances Fitzpatrick (née Rodgers), whose father was named Steven Rogers. The seller’s elderly husband recalled that General Reeves was either an uncle or great-uncle to Frances, who passed away roughly ten years prior to the sash’s sale.

An extraordinary piece of Confederate militaria, directly linked to a named officer with verifiable service and rank—ideal for serious Civil War collectors or museum display.
