Sergeant’s Combination Tool for the Enfield Rifle Musket - Inventory Number: FIR 180
A very nice and complete example of the Enfield Pattern No. 4 Sergeant’s Combination Tool. This tool includes a screwdriver, ball puller, worm, nipple pick, mainspring vise, and nipple wrench. In the British army they were intended for issue to sergeants to do basic field maintenance of weapons in the company. They were imported over here during the war along with the large numbers of P1853 Enfield rifles by both sides and have been excavated at camp and battle sites. This one is non-excavated, in very good condition, with lots of its original blue. It would make a great addition to a Civil War small arms display or to fill out the field gear of an enlisted man.
