Civil War Officer’s Haversack, Identified to Major Alexander S. Marshall, 7th West Virginia Cavalry – Inventory Number: LEA 282

Rare, identified haversack with painted unit designation, name and saber insignia of the U.S. Cavalry. Housed in a very old museum walnut case with original label.  Includes Marshall's archive records.  Walnut case measures 20 inches x 21 inches x 4 ½ inches. 

Alexander S. Marshall:

Enlisted on 11/27/1861 as a 1st Lieutenant.

On 11/27/1861 he mustered into Field & Staff WV 7th Infantry

He Resigned on 11/22/1862
