Civil War pistol cartridge box constructed of black bridle leather and features a single brass finial on the flap. The front bears a crisp stamp from, Marked J. Davy & Co one of the U.S. Army’s major armories during the war, located in Newark, New Jersey.
The inner flap includes a clear “MAKER” stamp, indicating manufacture by a government-contracted leather goods supplier. The pouch retains belt loops on the back which allowed it to be worn on a soldier’s waist belt.
