Original Oak Lathing from the Lincoln-Herndon Law Office – With Affidavit of Authenticity (1969) - Inventory Number: POL 387

Own a remarkable piece of Abraham Lincoln history. This artifact includes an original section of oak lathing removed during the 1968 restoration of the Lincoln & Herndon Building in Springfield, Illinois—where Abraham Lincoln once practiced law.

Accompanied by a notarized Affidavit of Authenticity dated February 12, 1969 (the 160th anniversary of Lincoln’s birth), this document is signed by Robert B. Oxtoby, a partner in the restoration project. The affidavit certifies that the oak lathing was part of the original 1840 structure, formerly known as the Tinsley Building, and was removed during structural updates by Reilly Construction Company under the supervision of Ferry and Henderson Architects.

A rare and meaningful relic for Civil War, Lincoln, or American legal history collectors.

Comes housed in 8 x 14 riker display case with black velvet and descriptive card.
