¼ Plate Ambrotype of Identified New York Officer - Inventory Number: HAR 209

Louis Koehler is shown here wearing a New York Mounted Infantry uniform and Shako Hat. The photograph would have been taken Circa 1857 – 1858. The mounted infantry horn and New York state seal insignia are visible on the shako. He is wearing a double[1]breasted frock and holding a model 1850 foot officer’s sword affixed to a sword belt with script “N.Y.” belt plate – Cursory research shows the Civil War records indicate the Civil War records as him enlisted at 40 years old. Enlisted on 11/4/1861 at New York City, NY as a 1st Lieutenant in the 103rd NY Infantry. On 1/27/1862 he was commissioned into "B" Co. NY 103rd Infantry. He was discharged for disability on 10/9/1862. No research yet on his career in the rifleman’s from when the image was take.

Comes housed in 8 x 14 riker display case with red velvet and descriptive card.
