¼ Plate Tintype of Union Musician - Inventory Number: HAR 198 / SOLD
A unique ¼ plate image of a soldier wearing a frock coat and holding an over-the-shoulder horn, as used by Civil War bands, was the most distinctively American form of the saxhorn. Its backward-facing bell enabled it to be heard by troops marching behind the band. The image had a domes glass not often encountered on images. The condition of the image is overall poor, but the content is great!
