    The Young Christian Directed Id’d to Alexander W. Diller, 65th Illinois Infantry - Inventory Number: IDE 126 / SOLD

    1846 pocket edition with “Soldier’s Library” in gold lettering on the spine. The front page is inscribed “Presented to 1st Lieut. A.W. Diller by his friend Agt. Bradley. Martinsburg Virginia August 29, 1862.” Diller enlisted from Cook County Illinois into the 65th regiment on 5/1/62 as a 1st Lieutenant and was discharged on 10/21/62. 

    Adjutant David C. Bradley enlisted on 3/1/62 as a 1st Lieutenant and mustered out on 3/1/65. The 65th Illinois was captured with the entire garrison at Harpers Ferry on 9/15/62. The regiment was paroled but not exchanged until April 1863. They went on to fight at Chattanooga, Knoxville, the Atlanta Campaign, Franklin, and Nashville.

    Residence Cook County IL;

    Enlisted on 5/1/1862 as a 1st Lieutenant.

    On 5/1/1862 he was commissioned into "G" Co. IL 65th Infantry

    He was discharged on 10/21/1862

     

     David C. Bradley:

    Residence was not listed;

    Enlisted on 3/1/1862 as a 1st Lieutenant.

    On 3/1/1862 he was commissioned into Field & Staff IL 65th Infantry

    He was Mustered Out on 3/1/1865
