Alexander Stephens – Free Frank Envelope – Inventory Number: AUT 100  Mailing envelope, 5.5 x 3.25, addressed in the hand of Alexander H. Stephens to his half-brother “John P. Stephens, Esqr., La Grange, Ga.,” and franked in the upper right, “Free, Alexander H. Stephens, MC.” Pencil notation to reverse dates the envelope to February 2nd 1846, when Stephens was serving as a Georgian congressman. In very good to fine condition, with very light soiling. A nice red cancellation in the upper left reads: “Washington City D.C. Feb. 3”. Comes housed in 6 x 8 riker display case with red velvet and descriptive card.   Inventory Number: AUT 100
