1816 Bayonet with Scabbard – inventory Number: BAY 288 / SOLD Original U.S. Model 1816 socket bayonet, recognizable by its tapered triangular blade and characteristic offset socket with bridge and locking ring. These bayonets were widely issued to match the Model 1816 musket and saw extensive use through the Mexican War and into the early stages of the Civil War. This example includes its original leather scabbard, which shows a separation in the leather but present. The bayonet exhibits a deep, untouched patina to the socket and a well-preserved blade with its full length and profile intact.
