A classic gentleman’s shaving kit, consisting of a maker marked straight razor, shaving brush, and tin shaving cup—an essential part of both civilian and military life. The straight razor features a well-worn wooden grip and a sharp steel blade. 

 

The tin shaving cup is the traditional cylindrical form with side compartment, designed to hold soap, brush, or small personal tools. Included is a period shaving brush with a turned wooden handle and natural bristles. 

 

Shaving kits like this were indispensable for soldiers in the field who were required to maintain a clean shave, especially in the Union Army. This set presents beautifully as a complete example of everyday personal gear carried during the Civil War era.
