Description
Glazed Brown Wear Inkwell
Well-documented among Civil War–era artifact collections and frequently recovered from identified camp and civilian sites. This example features a rich mottled brown glaze on fired clay. The cone form is less commonly encountered than the shorter, squared-shoulder cylindrical type and typically commands a premium. Found at dug sites associated with both Union and Confederate use, though the cone shape is more frequently documented in Southern contexts. Recovered in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Measures 2 ¾”.
