Description

Model 1816 Percussion Conversion Musket

An attractive U.S. Model 1816 .69 caliber smoothbore musket converted to percussion, featuring a threaded side bolster conversion. The lock is marked with a spread-winged eagle over MARLBOROUGH, with E. BUELL marking at the rear.

Metal surfaces display a smooth brown patina with areas of soft gray showing through. The stock is solid with a pleasing, deep tone. A small, stable crack is present behind the side plate and barrel tang, showing an old, period repair secured with two screws. The wood retains a faint stamped “S” marking. Both sling swivels remain intact, along with the original button-tipped ramrod.

A honest and well-preserved example of a Model 1816 conversion.
