Description
Tobacco Twist – Inventory Number: CAM 093 / SOLD Tobacco was an enormously important sutler ware, as many soldiers felt they could not do without it. Chewing tobacco was popular, and many soldiers developed a dependency upon it. It was easy to carry and could be enjoyed no matter what the soldier was doing: marching, standing guard, or camping in the rain. These “pigtail” curls or “twist” could be chewed or smoked. This large example is from the Kentucky Museum and is approximately 11″ x 5″. Inventory Number: CAM 093 / SOLD
