Description
6-Pound Solid Shot Cannonball
Civil War 6-pound solid shot used extensively in the early years of the war by both Union and Confederate artillery. Cast from solid iron, this round was designed for use in smoothbore field guns such as the Model 1841 6-pounder.
This specimen retains a dark, aged patina with evidence of ground oxidation and surface pitting consistent with long-term exposure. The impact deformation and minor scarring add authentic character, illustrating the tremendous forces these projectiles endured in combat.
Solid shot like this was primarily used against fortifications, artillery positions, and infantry columns—delivering devastating results on impact. A fine representative artillery relic.
