Great Mexican American War Dated Example
Outstanding example of a U.S. Model 1841 percussion rifle, often referred to as the “Mississippi Rifle,” in excellent condition. Manufactured by Robbins, Kendall & Lawrence of Windsor, Vermont and dated 1847, this .54 caliber rifle features the classic brass-mounted configuration with a finely engraved patch box. The patch box lid bears a jeweler-style engraved inscription reading: “Rick ZUM BRUNNAN”, adding a personalized touch which has not yet been researched. Mechanically sound with crisp metal surfaces and excellent stock condition. One lock screw has been replaced, but the rifle remains a superb and original specimen overall. A desirable early production Mississippi rifle with both condition and character—ideal for advanced collectors of U.S. military longarms.
