Alexander Hamilton (1755–1804), Founding Father and former Secretary of the Treasury, and Aaron Burr (1756–1836), Vice President of the United States, maintained a long and bitter political feud. After years of tension, Burr challenged Hamilton, leading to the most famous duel in American history, fought on July 11, 1804. Hamilton was fatally wounded, dying the next day.
A truly rare and impressive piece linking two towering figures of early America and one of the most dramatic moments in U.S. history.
