Abraham Lincoln Relic from the Tinsley Building 

This remarkable display features a sepia-toned photograph of the historic Tinsley Building in Springfield, Illinois, paired with an authentic section of original oak lathing recovered from the structure. Located at the corner of 6th and Adams Streets, the Tinsley Building is famously known as the site of the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices, where Abraham Lincoln practiced law from 1844 to 1852. Built in 1840, the building is one of the few remaining structures in Springfield directly associated with Lincoln’s professional life. Built by Seth Tinsley, 1840. 14½”x 13″, frame contains 9 in. slat from Lincoln’s office plus slightly faded photo of the building, 19th cent. but undated. Ex-Emerson, interesting association piece.  The preserved oak lathing offers a tangible connection to this era and to the very office where Lincoln honed his legal and oratory skills. Beautifully matted and framed, this piece is ideal for collectors of Lincolniana or Illinois history. Measures 13 x 14. *
