Description

Allen & Wheelock Six-Shot .32-Caliber Pepperbox Revolver

A handsome six-shot, .32-caliber percussion pepperbox revolver manufactured by Allen & Wheelock. The rotating barrel cluster is stamped “ALLEN & WHEELOCK” in an inverted position, while the left side of the hammer is marked “PATENTED APRIL 16, 1845.” Serial number 507 is stamped between two of the nipples.

The steel frame displays attractive floral and scroll engraving. The metal retains a pleasing dark-gray surface with scattered darker areas of patina. The mechanism is in working order, and the barrel cluster advances counterclockwise as it should.

The walnut grips remain solid and intact, exhibiting only minor handling marks, dings, and scratches, with slightly more wear visible on the left grip. A very attractive and complete example of Allen & Wheelock’s distinctive pepperbox design.
