Antique Glass Apothecary Bottle with Epsom Salts – Post-Civil War Label
$75.00
Description
Antique Glass Apothecary Bottle with Epsom Salts – Post-Civil War Label
This large, aqua glass apothecary bottle contains its original contents of Epsom salts and retains a partial paper label from The Baltic Chemical Co., Chicago, Illinois. The label cites the 1906 Food and Drugs Act, placing the packaging firmly in the early 20th century. While the bottle form itself is consistent with Civil War–era apothecary bottles, the label was added later, making this a transitional piece that bridges 19th-century medical glass with post-war pharmaceutical labeling practices. Measures 9″ in height by 3 1/2″ wide.
A fine display item for collectors of antique medical, apothecary, or Civil War-related material culture. Displays beautifully with its frosted contents still intact.
