Austrian Model 1838 Bayonet – Inventory Number: BAY 208 / SOLD Quadrangular socket bayonet for the Model 1838 Austrian musket.  The socket features a straight mortise and was fixed via spring retaining clip extending from the musket’s forearm.  The bayonet has scattered pitting and a brown patina, with an 18″ blade and 22” overall length.  Thousands of Austrian 1838s were imported by the United States government early in the war.    Inventory Number: BAY 208 / SOLD
