Description

Brick from Pigeon Creek Baptist Church – Spencer County, Indiana

Original brick fragment from the historic Pigeon Creek Baptist Church in Spencer County, Indiana — a site of notable early 19th-century frontier heritage. The church, founded in 1816, is best remembered as the congregation attended by Thomas and Nancy Hanks Lincoln, parents of President Abraham Lincoln, during the family’s years in southern Indiana (1816–1830).

This preserved section of original brick is accompanied by an early handwritten presentation note reading:

“Brick from Pigeon Creek Baptist Church, Spencer County, Indiana. Presented to Dr. Arthur O. Howard by John W. Gellerman, 1962.”

Artifacts from Pigeon Creek are scarce, and pieces with documented provenance are especially desirable to collectors of early Americana and Lincoln-related relics.

A  tangible connection to the Lincoln family’s Indiana years and the pioneer community that shaped America’s 16th President.
