Bullet Embedded in Wood — North Carolina

 

Union three-ring Minie ball embedded in a fragment of period wood. The wood fragment measures approximately 5 inches x 3 inches.

 

The projectile is a Union-issue three-ring Minie ball, firmly lodged within the wood, illustrating the immense force generated upon impact. The surrounding wood fibers show clear disruption and compression radiating from the point of entry.
